If you are an individual homeowner who has been the victim of predatory mortgage lending practices, facing foreclosure and are in need of legal services to protect or assert your legal rights and live or work in Western Massachusetts (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden or Hampshire Counties, you are urged to contact the FORECLOSURE HOTLINE (413-322-7404) that is provided as a public service by the (Western Massachusetts) Alliance of Providers of Legal Services in partnership with the Foreclosure Task Force of the Hampden County (MA) Bar Association.

 

Those individuals meeting federal income guidelines will be assigned to one of the not-for-profit agencies that provide pro bono legal services to those who qualify. Those individuals who do not meet federal income guidelines will be referred to an attorney who has volunteered to participate in the program of the Foreclosure Task Force of the Hampden County (MA) Bar Association and provide free initial consultation and thereafter free (pro bono) or reduced fee services depending upon your financial circumstances and the nature of the legal services that are required.

If appropriate, the attorney may refer you to a non-profit agency for financial counseling to ascertain your financial ability to retain home ownership. Such financial counseling may well be independent of any legal rights and remedies that you may have and that can be asserted on your behalf.
